School Holidays During Term Time

Head teachers have the discretion to grant leave, but they should only do so in exceptional circumstances. If a head teacher grants a leave request, it will be for them to determine the length of time that the child can be away from school. This leave is unlikely, however, to be granted for the purposes of a family holiday.

Parents can be fined for taking their child on holiday during term time without consent from the school.

Please contact the school if you wish to discuss this with the Head teacher.

Taking Holidays

Please avoid taking holidays in term time as this can lead to a significant amount of time being missed at school. If permission from the Head teacher is not requested to take a holiday during term time, children will be given an ‘unauthorised absence’ mark and it may lead to enforcement action being taken against parents/carers.

Leave of Absence Form

You should avoid taking holidays in term time. If this is unavoidable the correct permission from the Head teacher must be requested using the application form.
