St Chad’s Catholic Primary School has enjoyed a wonderful week of creativity and imagination as we celebrated National Storytelling Week across the whole school.

Class 2 and Class 3 kicked things off with an energetic rap workshop led by the National Literacy Trust. The children learned how rhythm, rhyme and performance can be used to tell powerful stories. They worked together to create their own short raps and loved performing them for their classmates.

Meanwhile, Class 1 and Class 3 spent time sharing stories with one another. The older pupils encouraged and supported the younger children, while Class 1 proudly shared some of their own favourite books. It was a lovely chance to enjoy reading simply for pleasure and to connect through storytelling.

Class 1 also took part in a special workshop with author Annemarie Anang. Using her book I Am Nefertiti, she guided the children through storytelling using music, movement and vocal expression. The children used their bodies and voices to bring the story to life, exploring how stories can be felt as well as heard.

It has been a fantastic week celebrating stories in many different forms. Well done to all our pupils for their enthusiasm, imagination and brilliant participation!
