Our Class 2 pupils at St Chad’s Catholic Primary School have enjoyed a fantastic range of trips and experiences, bringing their learning to life in exciting and memorable ways.

STEM Fun at Locomotion

Class 2 had an incredible STEM day at Shildon Locomotion, where they explored science and engineering through hands‑on activities. Pupils:

  • Built paper bridges designed to hold weights
  • Created their own rocket mice
  • Designed and tested catapults

The day ended with an important safety focus, as children created posters about how to stay safe near railway lines.

Developing Skills at the Tri‑Golf Festival

The class also took part in a Tri‑Golf festival organised by Education Enterprise, where they showed excellent putting and chipping skillsacross a range of fun challenges. One of the highlights was seeing just how far they could hit the ball down the green — there may be some future golfing stars in our midst!

Exploring Local History Through Art

Closer to home, pupils enjoyed a walk into the village to visit the Bradford Boy statue. Using their fantastic observational skills, they created detailed sketches of the statue, which will now inspire their own clay models back in the classroom.

Learning That Inspires

These experiences have helped our pupils develop creativity, teamwork, practical skills and confidence, while making learning both meaningful and enjoyable.

Well done, Class 2 — what an exciting and enriching week you’ve had!
