Pupils from St Chad’s Catholic Primary School in Witton Park enjoyed an exciting day of creativity, storytelling and hands-on learning during a visit to the nationally recognised Two Tales pop-up experience in Durham.

Children from Years 2 and 3 took part in a range of imaginative activities designed to encourage a love of reading and inspire creative thinking.

During the visit, pupils embarked on a scavenger dragon egg hunt, exploring the site while following clues and working together to solve challenges. They also learned about the legendary Lambton Worm, discovering more about one of the North East’s most famous folklore stories through engaging activities and discussion.

The creative fun continued as the children designed and created their own dragon eggs before inventing unique dragons complete with their own special features, characteristics and qualities. The workshop encouraged pupils to use their imaginations while developing their storytelling and artistic skills.

Two Tales is known for its innovative approach to learning through children’s literature, offering inspiring workshops and interactive gallery spaces that bring stories to life. Each workshop is designed to promote imagination, creativity and a lifelong enjoyment of reading.

Staff at St Chad’s Catholic Primary School praised the pupils for their excellent behaviour and enthusiasm throughout the day.

A spokesperson for the school said:

“Years 2 and 3 enjoyed a fantastic day at Two Tales in Durham. The children took part in a scavenger dragon egg hunt, explored activities linked to the Lambton Worm and created their own dragon eggs and dragons with unique features and qualities. The visit provided pupils with a memorable learning experience beyond the classroom, combining literacy, creativity and local heritage in an engaging and enjoyable way.
