Pupils at St Chad’s Catholic Primary School in Witton Park, Bishop Auckland, have been enjoying a wide range of engaging learning experiences across music, personal development, history and dance.

The children in Class 1 have been making the most of their music lessons, learning a variety of songs and developing their musical skills through exploring the glockenspiels. Their enthusiasm and enjoyment have been evident as they sing, play and grow in confidence as young musicians.

Meanwhile, Class 2 and Class 3 came together for a British Values lesson, working collaboratively to discuss each of the British Values and how they are demonstrated within the school community. The children shared thoughtful examples and engaged in meaningful discussions, carefully explaining their ideas and reasoning. Their maturity and understanding shone through as they reflected on how these values are lived out every day at St Chad’s.

Class 3 have also been delving into the history of Witton Park, learning about the village’s heritage and discovering what life was like in the local area in years gone by. The topic has captured the children's interest, helping them develop a deeper understanding of the community they are part of and its rich history.

In addition, Class 3 have been expressing their creativity through dance. This half term, the children have choreographed their own performances using just one required element: a chair. Throughout the unit, pupils performed individually, in pairs, in small groups and as a whole class, exploring different ways to communicate ideas through movement. In their penultimate lesson, the children were given the opportunity to choose how they wanted to perform, showcasing the confidence, creativity and skills they have developed throughout the topic.

These varied learning experiences highlight the broad and enriching opportunities available at St Chad’s Catholic Primary School, where children are encouraged to explore new interests, develop their talents and deepen their understanding of the world around them.
